Scumbag Flash Fiction: A Couple of Saw Bucks.

He ran the light on Rosemount and headed for the house full throttle. He was late and this was birthday season. Lenoard knew the grandmas would be sure to kick in a couple saw bucks each for the kid. He just had to get the mail before Darlean's shift a Pic and Pay ended. His timing had been perfect all week: getting home before Darlean, checking the mail, then zipping back to Tony O's for the afternoon. But today was different. There was that distraction, Michelle, in those tight tight jeans and that gravity defying tube-top, and now he was late. Darlean's Maverick was nowhere to be seen as he pulled around the corner. He was relieved as he walked up the drive, eyeballing the loaded mailbox. Junk, junk, bills, and there--finally the card. He tore the envelope and card open and pocketed two crisp twenties. He turned around and stared into the dismayed eyes of Darlean. "I can't believe you would do that. Give me the money, you selfish prick," Darlean said, "it's your daughter's birthday." "Prove it," Leonard replied as he brushed aside Darlean and headed for the car.
